Hence, Community Social Capital is created through interactions with others in community groups over time. Social Capital is built up over time.

Also, it can be increased or decreased over time depending on what happens in a community. Social capital is essential to community building because it contributes to:

2. social networks and social interactions

3. shared norms, values, and ideologies

NCEDA’s mission is to promote CED best practices by inspiring communities to take action toward the goal of sustainable community development.

Community development planning is the process of examining the needs of communities and making plans to address them. Community development planning generally includes the identification of specific projects. Thus, the implementation of these projects and evaluation of these projects connect. 

Community development plans are generally developed by a local government in cooperation with other local organizations. Community development plans can focus on many different things. Social Capital is the glue that holds communities together.
