To find your target audience is crucial in being effective in your strategy. So how can you make the best out of these efforts?

There are some key ways in which you can locate new target customers: 

  • Look within your existing network of contacts- who might be looking for what you offer?
  • Attend networking events- these are great places for getting in front of people who are likely prospects or have referred prospects in their network. 
  • Utilize social media- spend time on social media sites like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc., looking for people who might be good fits for your products or services.
  • Research competitive buyers- who do they buy from? What are some key characteristics of those companies? 
  • Research industry associations- which associations are relevant in your industry? What companies do they have members from? 
  • Also, research trade shows- which trade shows are relevant in your industry? Which companies exhibit at those trade shows? 
  • Seek out partners- find out if any of your existing partners know who might be looking for what you offer. 
  • Create a buyer persona- this is a description of your ideal customer. What are some key characteristics about him/her?
  • Go to where they are- find out where your target customers spend time. Where do they shop? Where do they vacation? And where do they hang out? 
  • Use social media tools- Facebook ads, Google AdWords, LinkedIn ads, etc.

How Can You Best Attract Target Customers to Your Website?

There are many ways in which you can attract potential customers to visit your website, including: 

Online advertising

For instance, using search engine optimization (SEO), pay-per-click (PPC), banner ads, etc., you can place ads that will bring visitors to your site. 

Social media

Social media sites are great places for getting in front of people who are likely prospects or have referred prospects in their network. 

Content marketing

Create articles, blogs, infographics, videos, podcasts, etc., that show how you solve problems for your target market. Embed links to these pieces of content on your website where it makes sense to do so. 

Email marketing

Create emails geared towards capturing leads for the services or products you offer. Send out emails regularly with updates on your company, new products or services, etc., and include links back to your site where appropriate. 

Also, create a newsletter to send out periodically with content that is relevant to your niche market that includes links to content on your site where it makes sense to do so. This is a great way to build trust with potential clients by giving them useful information related to their industry without selling too hard.  

Remember: Content is king! The more relevant and helpful content on your website as well as other online channels such as social media and email marketing campaigns, the more likely people will be to want to learn more about what you offer and contact you for more information or service.
